Safety above all.

The safety of our guests and WestJetters has and continues to be our top priority. In these uncertain times, we've made some important changes to our buiness for your safety and peace of mind.

CHECK-IN / BOARDING:

Clean Surfaces: At the kiosk or check-in counter, we’ll be wiping surfaces between guests, you’ll have more room as you wait in line, and we’ll let you handle your own bags.

Safe Boarding: Download the WestJet app to access your mobile boarding pass, allowing you to limit contact on your journey.

Health Questionnaire: Transport Canada requires that all  guests answer a simple health questionnaire at the time of boarding.

Symptom Screening: Before your flight, we’ll do a  non-contact temperature check.  If you are displaying symptoms, or feeling unwell, you cannot board.

Face Covering: Transport Canada requires all guests over 2 years old wear a face covering. You’ll need to bring a face mask or covering with you to wear throughout your travel journey. Masks with an exhalation vent are not acceptable.

ONBOARD YOUR FLIGHT
You’ll be welcomed onboard with a smile (under our mask) and a disinfectant wipe so you can freshen your seat area for extra peace of mind. We’re using stronger disinfectants, more often and added fogging to how we sanitize our aircraft. We rely on hospital-quality HEPA filters to introduce fresh air every 2-3 minutes, so you can breathe easy as you fly with us.

Fogging: We’ve implemented a new cleaning procedure calling fogging. The entire aircraft interior is completely disinfected using a hydrogen peroxide-based solution cleaner.

Fogging allows us to thoroughly disinfect our aircraft at any time, with little disruption to our guests and operations. The new process takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and the product dissipates within 20 minutes. We’re working hard to ensure fogging can be expanded to every base we operate to as soon as possible. All WestJet 737 and Q400 aircraft are cleaned as part of their overnight cleaning and sanitization regimen.

Sani-Cide, Celeste 8500, Clorox Wipes & Spray: Our aircraft is cleaned extensively and more frequently with Health Canada-recommended products. As an additional measure hospital-grade Clorox wipes and spray are used to clean areas with high points of contact such as tray tables and general seating areas. Guests will also be  given disinfectant wipes as they board the aircraft.

HEPA Filters: A common misconception with airlines is that the air on board is recirculated. But that’s not the case. All WestJet aircraft are equipped with an industry-leading air circulation system containing a HEPA filter, similar to what’s used in hospitals.

Not only do these filters introduce fresh air into the cabin every 2 to 3 minutes, but they also capture and filter 99.99% of all airborne particles so you can breathe a little easier.

Limited In-flight Service: We're offering a small menu of snacks for purchase on flights over 60 minutes, and you'll find a snack and bottled water at your seat when you board. We won’t be serving drinks or food on flights under 60 minutes, so stay hydrated and enjoy a meal before heading to the airport.
